Preecha Aesthetic Institute (PAI), a Thai cosmetic-surgery centre, has signed a memorandum of understanding with a Vietnamese investor to open its first branch in Vietnam, providing plastic surgery and dermatology and laser services.
With an investment of more than Bt50 million, the centre - part of a health club at the heart of Hanoi - will commence construction next month, with completion expected by the end of the year. It will be operational from January under PAI's "The beauty solution" concept.
Preecha Tiewtranon, a founding member of the institute, said the company in July had a discussion with Su Ngoc, a major shareholder of the InterContinental Hanoi Hotel, to open the centre in the country.
He said in a statement that the potential partner saw high growth potential, given the large number of PAI Vietnamese clients and the desire of many people in the country to look more like South Korean celebrities.
Peera Tiewtranon, deputy managing director of PAI, said plastic surgery is popular, particularly among Vietnamese females aged 25-50. The number of patients has grown 20 per cent per annum. The most popular services are breast augmentation, liposuction and nose jobs. PAI charges Bt100,000 on average.
PAI will dispatch its surgery team to Vietnam and offer a training programme for local personnel, to ensure the same standards as are available here.
"The centre should bring in more than Bt20 million in annual revenue to PAI," Peera said, adding that the institute is under discussion to penetrate several more markets.
"Conclusions should be reached early next year. Overseas expansion is PAI's step forward to penetrate the Asian market and turn Thailand into a plastic-surgery hub in Asean."
